We went with the rubber ducky theme for my daughter's 1st birthday because she loves her rubber ducks. It was a swimming party so I found invitations with a rubber duck in water and I had them printed to say, Splish Splash it's a birthday bash Come get soaked we'll swim and play as we celebrate Sara's 1st birthday."
We rented a white tent from the local party store and set up tables and chairs under it. I hung duck streamer partyworks.com along the fence. Baloons were placed all through the yard. We used aqua white pink and yellow duck balloons. I found fabric at Wal-mart that was aqua with white bubbles and yellow rubber ducks and I used the fabric for tablecloths. I found serving pieces with bright polka dots and the dinner plates came from partyworks.com and had a rubber duck on them. We served hot dogs hamburgers chips and dip on the adult table.
The kid's table had duck shaped cheese crackers pb&j sandwiches and rice krispie treats that I cut into duck shapes with a cookie cutter and grapes. I used her duck blow-up bath tub from Target for canned drinks and fruit drinks. The table was decorated with several birthday rubber ducks and the centerpiece was her big singing rubber duck. I found a duck at the party store for all of her guests to sign and put a message for the birthday girl.
The cake was an aqua blue color with white bubbles pink writing and rubber ducks placed on top. She had her own little personal cake that matched. I laid an adorable bright colored pinic blanket on the ground and let all 6 of the little girls dig into her birthday cake. We had a duck pinata for the bigger kids and duck beach balls from OTC.
The treat bags were clear with big yellow polka dots and I cut out ducks from yellow paper using the cookie cutter and tied them to the bags with the kids's name on the duck. The boy's treat bags (ages 3-5) had Nemo snacks goldfish packet bubbles duck stickers and a splash ball for the pool. The girl's treat bags (ages 6 months-3) had fruit snacks goldfish bubbles ring pop and a rubber duck. I decided to have take home treats for the adults as well. I found rubber duck candy bar wrappers on simplybirthdaystuff.com. Printed on the was " Saylor's 1st Birthday… Here is a treat from me to you see you next year when I turn 2!" I wrapped them around Hershey bars and they were a huge hit!
A bathtime CD played during the party that had fun songs for the kids. The birthday girl wore a Le Top swimsuit with a yellow duck and later changed into an outfit with a duck on it and her birthday hat for present time. The party was adorable!!! Several guests said it was the cutest birthday party ever! The rubber duck theme is great for a first birthday. "
