Purple Pony Party 4 year old girl My daughter loves horses and wanted to have a horse-themed party. I wanted something fun so we came up with a Purple Pony party!
For the invitations, we used purple printed cardstock, vellum and ribbon. I made purple ponies on sticks by sewing simple pony heads out of purple fabric and made fabric fringe for the manes. We then hot glued them onto purple-painted 3' lattice strips. For a no-sew version, you could hot glue felt pieces together and stuff with polyfil. Glue on the mane using yarn and wiggle eyes.
Then we made pony headbands. We purchased headbands and cut out ears from felt and made the pony mane out of yarn. We hot glued all of the pieces to the headband. As each guest arrived, they received a pony on a stick and a pony headband to wear. We played pony races and had the kids race while riding on their ponies!
For a cake, I shaped the cake into a horse head using one cake baked in a wide bowl and another baked in a round cake pan. The cake baked in the bowl made the main part of the head and the flat round cake was cut to shape the ears and the nose of the horse. I used sour fruit-by-the-foot to curl and make the horses mane. I purchased spring flowers to put around the neck of the horse. The kids loved it!
For party favors, we made home-made purple play dough and cut it into horse shapes. We also made trail mix for each child to take home. They also got to take home their pony headbands and ponies on a stick! It was a great time and my daughter said it was her favorite party yet!
