PARTY FOOD: For drinks the girls wanted to feel grown up so I bought plastic champagne glasses and lemonade so it was like they were really film stars! During the party, leave out vegetables and dip, chips and salsa, and candies, for munching. For dinner, serve basic pizza, because it is easy and cheap.
For dessert, I made a cake in shape of a 12 (my daughter was turning 12) and decorated it with sprinkles, gummy bears, sour belts, and taffy! Then, I made root beer floats to serve with the cake. For breakfast, we made a breakfast buffet. We had yogurt, waffles, nuts, syrups, fruit, and whipped cream to put on your waffle. In the dining room, we had table settings that made it look like a fancy restaurant. For each girls plate, we had a typed name card, a folded cloth napkin with a napkin ring,
For an activity the kids are given dime store sunglasses as they enter the party to decorate later with sparkles, felt flowers, and dime store jewels. To end we did sparkly face painting. Now its late. Spread out the sleeping bags and settle down in front of the television for a calming movie. While watching the movies, eat popcorn and smores (you can make these beforehand and reheat them when the time is right).
Activities- We did sparkly face painting. Make a contest. Have all the children come in fairly nice and modest pajama's and then have then come down the hall like it is a fashion show. Give out awards for the fluffiest, the silkiest, the silliest, etc. Play Movie Charades.
As Birthday girl, you go first. Stand up in front of your friends and act out a movie title. See if the watchers can guess it. They can call their guesses aloud. Example: You decide to act out the movie Princess Diaries. First you make out like a regular schoolgirl. Then suddenly you act all excited and act like a royal. If they still don't call out the right title, pretend you're writing in a diary. Repeat or try new ideas until the guessers call it right! There is no final winner and prize in this game.
Time to get really glammed up! First, have the girls put cucumbers on their eyes and facemask on their necks and faces! You can find recipes for masks in library books or on websites, so why purchase one? Let the mask harden nicely before washing it off. Then paint your fingers and toes in sparkly, fun, funky colors, style your hair up in wacky dos, and TA-DAH! The result is a gaggle of giggling, glamorous great girls! Now its late. Spread out the sleeping bags and settle down in front of the television for a calming movie. While watching the movies, eat popcorn and smores (you can make these beforehand and reheat them when the time is right).
DECORATIONS: Clear out all the big or breakable items in the room. Hang glow and the dark stars from the ceiling, and replace all the lamp lights with blacklights. Hang colored Christmas lights around the walls. Blow up about 30 balloons, about 4 of each rainbow color and let them float around the room. Make sure you leave enough space for all the sleeping bags. Also, put signs on the doors of the rooms that are off limits (the parent's bedroom unless there is an emergency, the sibling's bedrooms, garage, etc). The basics balloons, streamers, banners, etc. Now make sure there is a place to put the presents set up. For each girls plate, we had a typed name card, a folded cloth napkin with a napkin ring.
